Loss and Grief

One of my good friends lost his mother very recently. His mom was back home in Pune, and he is in Phoenix. Words just can't console enough. I am sad I could not really ask him to just sit with me and cry and let his grief out. I was sitting with him all this while looking he was doing his preparation to go back home to be with his father and brother. I wish I could have been of more help than just being there.

As I write this, he's almost ready to fly back home - to be with his mom's memories and to console his father and brother, who, in turn would console him.

I share his grief and pray for the departed soul.

Heyya Kaps...I'm new to your blog -I got your link through Dewdy's blog and I really liked your comment about friends...you and I think along the same lines :)

I'm sorry to hear bout your friend's mum...I can feel his pain because my dad died when I was just 16. It feels like it was just yesterday. What I can say to you is that nothing you say now would take away the pain he's going through...the loss of a loved-one is the most painful thing to experience in life...it leaves memories and memories are the hardest to get rid of...

I believe you are already being a great friend to him by feeling his pain this way...just be by his side, that's all you can do right now...as time goes, your friend will heal even though the memory of his mum will remain in his heart forever...

Take care
Keshi.

Im so sorry to hear about your friend's mum. Although he is a complete stranger to me, for some reason I feel his pain deeply. I guess when it comes to parents the thought of them aging and getting more close to the end of life haunts us.

I understand you couldn't do or say anything that would lessen his hurt or diminish his loss. But people never die, they continue to live with us, through us, in our memories and our hearts. Im sure your friend will imagine his mum's presense in the air he breathes, an unseen presence in all the good things in his life. Her memories will give give him the strength to live on.
